Box Relay is a paid add-on product to the core Box offering that enables you to build automated workflows directly in Box. Relay Lite is a free version of Relay with a smaller set of features and capabilities. Both offerings are available only to Box customers who are in the Business Plus tier and above.
What is in Box Relay?
Relay is a no-code workflow automation application that enables you to build and automate routine business processes centered around content. With Box Relay, you can:
- Give non-admin users access to Relay to build their own workflows.
- Build workflows involving any folders you own or co-own.
- Specify a multitude of triggers and outcomes based on file, folder, metadata, and task events, such as file uploads, metadata attribute updates, task completion, and so on.
- Create parallel or sequential outcomes.
- View progress on every running workflow via a dashboard, including exportable audit history.
What is in Box Relay Lite?
Box Relay Lite consists of a subset of the advanced capabilities of the paid Box Relay listed above. But it also includes significant feature improvements over Box Automations, such as a completely revamped UI and the ability for business users as well as admins and co-admins to access and create workflows.
Relay Lite limits you to certain specific file and task events, and only a single trigger and output per workflow.
Current Box Automations customers are to be migrated over to Relay Lite some time in 2019.
