Box Drive Cloud Files is a new version of Box Drive on Windows that uses the native Cloud Files API as its underlying file system architecture. This supports features like known folder redirection, ARM device support, better performance and reliability improvements.

- Integrated local hard drive management: Users can customize file storage locations, mark files for offline access, and free up space by removing downloaded files.
- File Explorer Update: Explorer now displays progress indicators for downloads from Box during key actions like opening files or marking them for offline access, including when files are opened directly within applications.
- Iconography support: Ensures Box Drive icons are displayed properly and consistently, without restriction from Window’s 16-bit limit on icons. Additionally, users can view multiple status icons at once to see if a file has been locked or downloaded.
- Box Drive full application compatibility with Windows apps from Microsoft Store.
Coming Soon
- Known Folder Redirection: Allows users to sync local root folders like Documents directly to Box Drive, enabling easy backup and management either manually or via Group Policy.

User Experience
The Box directory now appears differently in the left pane, with icons relocated to a new position. Additionally, the right-click context menu has been updated for improved usability.
Known Limitations:
- Box Drive Desktop Shortcut will currently not be created
- Differences in location on the left pane in Explorer, icons, context menu (See above)
- Migration of pinned items in the Quick Access pane is not supported yet
