Out of disk space but I should have enough for local storageAnswered
I've downloaded Box Drive and customized its location to a different disk (E:\ on my computer). I'm trying make files available offline but it says I'm running out of disk space. I have several terabytes left on the E:\ disk so how is this possible? Are files being cached on the C:\ disk, which has little space left?
Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!
I understand that you would like to change where Box Drive stores its app data or cached files. Unfortunately, there is no way to change this at present.
The article and steps in this article https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043697454-Configuring-the-Default-Box-Drive-Folder-Location is allowing you to move only the location of the Box Drive mount point. The cache and app data locations remain unchanged. So even though you move the mount location to a hard drive partition other than C:\, you continue to use space in C:\."
As the article states: Customizing the Box Drive folder does not change where Box Drive stores its app data or cached files. So customizing the folder will not save disk space if you relocate the folder to another drive.
This is issue has been raised to our Product team and there is currently a feature suggestion in Box Pulse to allow this. You can find the feature request in this post and add-in your vote if you would like to see this feature on future Box releases. https://pulse.box.com/forums/909778-help-shape-the-future-of-box/suggestions/37070209-box-drive-change-cache-location.
