Inherited Collaboration
I want to be able to give a person a higher level of access (Editor) to a single Sub-Folder where they only have Viewer in the Top Folder. But each time I try and do this, BOX updates the top level of access so they end up having EDITOR access to everything - which I do not want. How do I disconnect the inherited access to allow me achieve what I want?
Thanks....... Tony

Hi Anthony,
Welcome to the Box Community!
This would be expected behavior as Box follows waterfall permission model.
If an individual is a collaborator on a parent folder, their access level is the same for all its subfolders. Changing the access level for any subfolder causes the individual's access level also to change for the parent folder and all its subfolders. The system displays a message stating this information when changing someone's access level and there is not a way of changing this behavior in Box at present.
If this is something you would like to be able to do, I would highly recommend submitting this feature request at pulse.box.com! Our product managers review these requests and take them into consideration for future product development.
Best,
