Windows 10 Box file delete has no OS recycle function
Hi, this is another post about the Windows 10 Box desktop file recycling issue described in this thread, which has not received any resolution from Box Support.
To reiterate, in the past, using Box desktop in Windows 7, when deleting a file from the 'Box Sync' folder, the user is notified that the file will be moved to the Windows Recycle Bin, which enables the user to restore that file to their Box Sync folder from the Recycle Bin if they choose.
Using Box desktop in Windows 10, and deleting a file from the 'Box' folder, the user is warned that the file will be permanently deleted from the Windows OS, and no option to move to the Recycle Bin is available.
Comparing the two OS implementations of Box desktop, it seems that in Windows 7, the 'Box Sync' folder is treated as if it is just another file folder in the OS (ie right-click>Properties gives 'Type' as System Folder). By contrast, in Windows 10, the Box folder is viewed by the OS as a 'Mounted Volume' (right-click>Properties gives Type as Mounted Volume), which indicates the likely reason why the Windows 10 OS does not allow Box folder files to be recycled - it sees the Box folder as if it was an additional, external memory drive (such as a USB drive).
This is a step backwards in terms of functionality for the user. Please can you advise on rectifying this problem, eg provide an update to the Windows 10 version of Box desktop that ensures the OS treats the Box folder as a file folder and not as a mounted volume?

It seems this behavior when deleting contents in Box Drive is expected due to these files are cache data so the files are not actually stored in your local computer. Files are stored in Box webapp but have been made accessible via Box Drive in a form of "Cached data". So whenever you delete an item that is synced to Box Drive, there won't be an option to move it to Trash, rather, that deleted content will be moved in your Box Trash so you can recover it from there.
