We are thrilled to announce the Box Forms trigger in Box Relay, enabling teams to automate workflows with data collected from intuitive, mobile friendly forms in Box Forms. As part of the Box Enterprise Advanced plan, the Box Forms trigger in Box Relay can initiate additional outcomes to streamlines workflows, including:
Dynamically generate custom documents: Use the Box Doc Gen outcome to dynamically generate custom documents with data collected from the Box Forms trigger.
Customize folder names: Easily collect data with Box Forms and use that data to dynamically name folders created as part of a Box Relay workflow.
Automatically apply metadata: Seamlessly apply metadata to files and folders from files uploaded within Box Forms submissions.
Streamline workflows end-to-end: Leverage the Box Forms trigger in tandem with the Box Doc Gen outcome to dynamically generate custom documents and the Box Sign outcome in Box Relay to automatically send generated documents for e-signature or approval.
Box Forms makes it easy to quickly create custom forms natively in Box, eliminating the unnecessary integrations and custom code typically needed for data handoffs between stand-alone form tools and business applications. Box Forms allows you to seamlessly process form data and collect files for a variety of use cases – from receiving applications and initiating onboarding activities to triggering service requests and processing claims.

We have enhanced dynamic naming support in Relay to add the ability to use trigger folder as a variable for file/folder naming in workflow outcomes. This is a follow-up to what we released Late last year - the ability to dynamically name files/folders at runtime in Box Relay workflows.

We have extended dynamic naming support in Relay to leverage variables in all metadata templates. This capability is available on Enterprise plans and above. This is a follow-up to what we released Late last year - the ability to dynamically name files/folders at runtime in Box Relay workflows - including the use of File Request metadata.
Workflow creators are now able to use fields from metadata templates to rename files and folders - including combining metadata fields with free-form text including prepending, appending or inline. All metadata field types (text, number, date, single and multi-select dropdown) can be used for naming files and folders. For more information, see:

We have released the ability to name files/folders based on variables that may change per workflow instance. Users can combine variable names with free-form text including prepending, appending or inline.
Supported variables will include the
Name of the file/ folder being executed on in the workflow
Name of the trigger file/folder
Trigger Date
Execution Date
File Request metadata (for Relay workflows using the File Request trigger) - For Enterprise plans and above
This enables workflow creators to contextually name files/folders. For example:
Making the current date part of the folder name (useful for timestamping)
Using a folder name (e.g. name of a client) referenced in a previous step of the workflow as part of new name of a file
Extract a metadata field (E.g. vendor name) from a File Request and use as part of the file name

We enhanced the recently-released Relay-Sign integration and added the ability to move the signing log and executed document in lockstep for Relay workflows employing the 'Sign event' trigger.
This ensures file-specific Relay outcomes such as file/metadata/task actions apply to one or both files (as configured), supporting automated archival workflows for signed documents.
This feature is available on Business and above plans.

We added informational labels in the Relay workflow builder that shows any active Shield classifications that apply to files or folders identified in workflow.
Once the user picks the file/folder, they see the label informing them of Shield-related attributes with additional details available via a modal.
This enables the workflow designer to build workflows that are cognizant of file and folder classifications. This feature is available on Enterprise and above plans, and requires Box Shield as a pre-requisite.
