Can folder owners be changed using the CLI

I am trying to find out how to transfer ownership of folders to a system user using the CLI. I have an additional complexity as these are top level folders and only the super user can own them. The process I am using manually is:

Impersonate the folder owner
Add boxadminuser to the folder as an editor
Elevate boxadminuser to be the owner of the folder
Go back to boxadminuser
Add contentowner@company.com to the folder as an editor
Set contentowner@company.com to be the owner
Remove boxadminuser

Is there a way to script this? I have a couple of hundred folders to update so it would be good to do this automatically.
