API Key for Normal User Account

I have a Box account through my employer. I would like to interact with my own files and folders through the API. Is it possible to convert this existing account into a developer account or gain access to an API key through some other means?

  For a whole bunch of reasons, I am very much doubting that:

   

  • An account could be converted
  • The permissions necessary to access and API and use an API Key would be be available to a Managed user for all kinds of security reasons.
  • Having said that, I think anyone can sign up for a free Developer account to tinker...that would be where I would start.
