    Hi there,

Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!

This usually happens when the file you are working on is shared with other users, and they also have the file opened and editing.

If you and a collaborator on Box.com both create or edit a file/folder of the same name at the same time, the first file to reach Box.com will be named “Filename.txt” the second file will be named “Filename (email@company.com).txt” in order to prevent overwriting. This behavior was explained in this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044193873

To prevent this, you and the other person working on this file can use Office online which allows concurrent or simultaneous edit instead of editing the file using your Office desktop apps. Another option is to use the lock/ unlock feature in Box.

Hope this helps! If you have questions, please let us know and we will help you!

    Regards,
