File disappeared

We are a group collaborating on files. I am the owner. The others are editors. 

I made changes in one file and added my initials at the end of the name when I saved it. This was at least 2 weeks ago. Now the collaborator made changes in the original file version. She changed name and deleted the old original file, but then my revised version also was dleleted. And I cannot find it in the trash. This must be a bug!
