Unable to Add Team Member to Shared Box

Hello, I keep having trouble when I try to add a team member to a shared box. This message pops up. The person who I have been trying to add has tried to make a box account and was not allowed to. Please advise.

    According to your error, you're inviting a deactivated user. Please be informed that collaboration works only with active Box users.
