Multiple Folders Missing | Not in trash folder

I am the IT Admin for a company and I had several users report folders missing. Checked all their Trash folders and did a search of the entire database and couldn't find the missing folders. Is there any way to check the previous versions of folders? These files were there less then 2 hours ago and now there are gone in to thin air.
