    No matter what I do to set up Authenticator using email, it reverts to wanting me to scan a QR code for authentication.

    What are the authenticator apps I can use?

    I'd rather use email for authenticating but can't get past this prompt to scan.,.

    Here are some authenticator app that you can use: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, Duo, and LastPass.
