Hey there, ! You're correct -- you absolutely can manually export the file from Google Drive and re-upload it to Box.

Additionally, some of our Box partners have built out tools to help you migrate this content over to Box in a less manual way. I'd recommend checking out the following partners:

    Hope those recommendations help!

    Dear Brad;

I am having a similar problem, but I think I need further help.

Last year I moved one of my files in my Google Drive because of storage reasons. The file contained some google docs which included some important information for me.

After my move, and the sync process is over, I couldnt open the aforementioned google documents. When I try to open them, 404 not found error comes.

I should also inform you that I deleted the file from Google Drive. 😞

Is there a solution for this?

    Your answers are much appreciated.

    Thanks.

     - Sorry for the delay on responding here! That sounds like a scenario where our Box User Services team would be best to assist. I'd recommend navigating to https://community.box.com/help and choosing either to open a case, use live chat, or give us a phone call -- all those options are in the Need Help section in red on that page.

    Hope that helps!

It appears that there still is no way to simply import or upload existing google docs or sheets from Google Drive into Box.  I tried Otixo, but moving a google sheet from Google Drive into Box automatically converted it from .gsheet into .xlsx.  Is there any discussion of Box resolving this issue natively within its service?  We have a large number of google docs and sheets in existence on Google Drive that we'd like to consolidate into Box, but cannot do so for now.  Very inconvenient as we must continue to operate in two cloud environments until a solution is found.

Thank you in advance to any Box rep that responds.

    Hi Ian,

That is welcome news!  Sounds like we'll be able to create google docs/sheets directly in Drive and then have the option to save directly into Box (and share from Box!).  Any idea on when Box and Google might roll this out to its users?

    Cheers,

    Eric

Not a clue. I'm also eagerly awaiting it.

But the problem was importing *existing* google docs into Box. Documents that were not created inside box, but created in Google Docs. Is there a solution for this?

I have the same question/challenge. We have google docs and would like to get them into Box... it appears the only method is to export and import.

    ,

They are working on it. Given that Google Docs have a proprietary format, it has long been a challenge to store them in Box without some corruption. Previous integrations have been so lame that many enterprises, mine included, have just turned them off. We have lots of users who would like to host their G-docs on Box so we, too, eagerly await an update on this partnership.

    Hello,

Are the solutions laid out below still the best way to import Google docs to Box or have there been any newer solutions?

    Thanks!

A work-around is adding a Box Note to a folder.  Within the Box Note you can paste the google doc path and the link works to access your original doc.  Not elegant but a quick, easy way to get it in the location you want.  Something that Box truly needs to fix overall.  We shouldn't need to go through another cloud service to set this up correctly.

I think this is good feedback to send to Box while they are working so closely with Google. You can make sure that feedback is heard by submitting a ticket to Box Support and asking them to pass it on to the integration team.

    Best of luck,

    Bob

Has it really been 16 months since Box announced their partnership with Google....and we STILL CAN'T IMPORT AND EXISTING SHEET!  Really?  Is it really STILL TRUE that you can CREATE a new sheet from within BOX, but someone can't figure out how to link to an EXISTING.

    How hard can this be?

As a work around, wouldn't you think that someone at Box would at least decide to expose the link URL from a sheet created within Box and allow you to modify it....attaching it to that existing sheet you really wanted to link to in the first place.

To confirm - if we reupload into Box, the Google Doc will no longer be a live document. Is that correct?

I used https://www.cloudfuze.com for migration and will other options as well. Thanks for sharing.
