Box Drive Simultaneous File Editing Issue
When using the shared drive at my company, PowerPoint will have a dialog box pop up when you open a file that another user already has open. The pop up lets you know that it's read only until the user that first accessed the file exits it. This is vital on presentations with lots of moving pieces since it keeps people from overwriting each other’s changes.
When 2 users open the same file in Box Drive, there is no such notification. This means that 2 people can work on the same file and won't realize it until Box saves down different copies of the file. This wastes time because then the 2 users will have to contact each other and figure out what they recently added and make sure to consolidate those changes into the original file.
Box Drive would be ideal for my company, but the lack of notification when users are accessing the same file is a deal-breaker for our enterprise. Is Box considering implementing some sort of notification (like how our shared drive does) in the future?
