Cannot access Box account from now defunct college email

I cannot access the account that I used when I went to college due to that email getting erased. Makes sense. I am wondering what happened to all the files in it? did they get deleted too? Is there a way I can restore them and transfer them to my new box account?

    Welcome to the Box Community! 

    If the account has been deleted all the files in it will also be deleted. But if you want to check, you may directly contact your previous school and ask them if you could have temporary access to the account.
