Box app, can't sign in with google

when I'm on the web browser version there is a "sign in with google" option, on the app Mac version that option is not there. I've tried my gmail email and password and it does not work. 

how do I sign into the app now?

    Please follow the steps in this article to reset the password for your Box account and enter your email to receive a reset link from us:

    Once you've successfully reset your Box password, please use your email and new password to login to the Box app.
