File count in folder tree

In the GUI, every folder shows the number of files in the entire tree below it, and you have to drill down to the details to see the storage space taken by the folder tree. In the command line, I can request the size of the folder tree, but I don't see a simple command to get the file count. Is this available somewhere through either the CLI or API?

It seems like something that easily accessible in the GUI should have an API behind it.

    I guess I just had to post in this forum, because I decided to try file_count as a field and it worked. So, in case you are curious this is the command I am using:

    box folders:items $boxRoot --fields='name,size,file_count' --sort=name --json
