Box for ServiceNow integration connects Box content to ServiceNow records, allowing you to work with Box files and folders directly within ServiceNow.
What can I do with Box for ServiceNow?
Box for ServiceNow enables you to work with Box content directly from a configured ServiceNow record.
Depending on your permissions, you can:
- Create and access the Box folder associated with a ServiceNow record
- View and preview Box files
- Upload files to the associated Box folder
- Share Box content
- Work with Box content without leaving ServiceNow
Does Box for ServiceNow store files in ServiceNow?
No. Files remain stored in Box. The integration uses the Box Embed experience to display Box content within ServiceNow. This allows files to remain under Box's existing content management, version control, retention, classification, and legal hold policies.
Does Box for ServiceNow automatically create a Box folder for every ServiceNow record?
No. Box for ServiceNow v1.0 does not automatically create a Box folder for every ServiceNow record. Administrators can configure Folder Mappings to map existing Box folders to existing ServiceNow records. If a Box folder has not yet been mapped to a ServiceNow record, you can create a Box folder directly from the ServiceNow record, where the integration is configured to allow it.
Can I configure Box for only certain ServiceNow record types?
Yes. Administrators can configure which ServiceNow record types and modules use Box. This allows organizations to enable Box only where it is needed rather than across every ServiceNow record. For more information, see the Box for ServiceNow installation guide available in the ServiceNow Store listing.
Which ServiceNow modules are supported?
Box for ServiceNow can be configured for ServiceNow applications and modules including:
- IT Service Management (ITSM)
- HR Service Delivery (HRSD)
- Customer Service Management (CSM)
- CRM
- Custom applications and modules
The integration uses configurable record and item mappings, rather than being limited to a single ServiceNow application.
