Done with Box..
I lodged a support request 3 weeks ago, which was basically ignored.
So I entered a new post 10 days ago to follow up, which I feel also was basically ignored, as the questions I asked there STILL remain unanswered..
Through searching the forum again, it is clear that I am not the first person to have their files disappear from the box drive folder, and then suddenly reappear. to have Box drive not start for no obvious reason, and then start later when all conditions appear the same.. I can see also that I am not the first person to have their requests for support basically ignored.
It's pretty obvious that people value their files, often times there's years of important work kept in box drive with the expectation that they won't get lost, and that the backups made there are safe.
I no longer have any trust in Box Drive as it is clear there are bugs some users are experiencing that are not being addressed, so I therefor will quit using it, and move to a more reliable cloud backup..
I will consider using BOX at a later date when hopefully all the bugs will be ironed out and the users will be better taken care of.. meanwhile I just discovered MEGA offer 20gb of free storage, so I'm jumping ship to them instead.. https://mega.nz/aff=nVywN_GqQ5k
