Box Reports > User Activity - possible features to be added
Hi,
This is a question for Box staff. Should I be contacting them directly?
I was wondering if Box has any plans to add a human readable geolocation information (City, State/Province, Country) option to Box Reports. Google Analytics offers this and it's really helpful in learning where anonymous users are coming from.
Box "User Activity" Reports track IP Addresses and I can generate geolocations from this information, but it's a lot of work and involves in my case using PostgreSQL, IP to Geo databases and a lot of cleaning of the Box report data and then ingestion into PostgreSQL. It takes a lot of time and effort that might be better spent.
Context - I work for an education non-profit and all our materials, which are hosted on Box, are free and open source and are used all over the world. I want to track geolocation usage of our materials so that I can show stakeholders that the work is being widely used and having a possible impact helping kids learn. Additionally, being able to find clusters of users can suggest that we should reach out to those school districts in those areas to ask for feedback to improve materials and offer additional support if they could benefit from it.
Thanks,
George
