MacOS Sonoma 14.4 - Box Drive Extension Failed to Load
I've been unable to use Box Drive since upgrading to MacOS Sonoma 14.4. I get the following error:
Box Drive's system extension failed to load. Please make sure it has been enabled in System Preferences > Security & Privacy and then restart your computer. If the problem persists, please contact Box Support to further troubleshoot the issue.
I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and rebooting between each action. I have tried a manual install. I've done a manual uninstall and removed all bits of Box that an app cleaner could find. I've downloaded BoxDrive 2.38.172. Nothing works. I always get this error.
I have recently tried FPE mode via "defaults write com.box.desktop MacMode fpe", but it throws an error saying my OS is too old. I have since deleted this.
FWIW, I'm on an M1 Macbook Pro.
Any suggestions?

Did you try reading the error message and doing it what it says?
Paraphrasing, it says to:
- Make sure the Box Drive system extension is enabled, and
- Restart your computer
Perhaps you don't understand how to do that? If so, this should help:
- Save all of your unsaved documents, because you're going to restart your computer in step 11, below
- Click on the menu and select System Settings…
- When the Settings window opens, select Privacy and Security from the left panel.
- The Privacy section appears at the top of the right panel, with and about two dozen privacy settings. Scroll all the way down past the Privacy section until you can see the next two sections, Security, and Others.
- Under the Others heading, click Extensions. The Extensions panel will load.
- Click Added extensions. (It's the top item in the Extensions panel.) A new window will pop open.
- Box will appear above the Finder Extensions checkbox (✅). Verify that it's already ✅. If not, Click to ✅ it.
- Click Done.
- Now click Finder Extensions. You will see Box appear above a Box checkbox. Verify that it's already ✅. If not, Click to ✅ it.
- Click Done.
- Click the menu again and choose Restart…
If that works, you can reply with your effusive thanks!
