Box has indeed been pushing for users to transition from Box Sync to Box Drive, and this shift is primarily due to Box Sync's limitations and the newer features offered by Box Drive. While Box Sync is being phased out on Apple Silicon Macs, there's no official word yet about Box Sync being discontinued for Windows.

Box Drive is designed to be a more modern solution with better integration and performance, and Box recommends it for both macOS and Windows users. The move towards Box Drive reflects a broader trend of updating tools to improve user experience and compatibility.

If you’re using Box Sync on Windows, it might be a good idea to start exploring Box Drive , as it could become the primary focus of Box’s development and support in the near future. Official Site

I used Box Sync for ten years at my old company and loved it. When my new company needed a shared drive, I said we'll use Box Sync, it's great! But Box said no, we are phasing out Box Sync so I put us on Box Drive.

    I HATE IT!!

Can't search, doesn't manage user collisions, doesn't automatically lock files. Have to go through a second and third menu for everything. I really look bad for choosing Box. I had better shared drive collaboration in the 1990s.

    One star

I'm moving to DropBox as soon as I get up the nerve to tell everyone I made the wrong decision.
