Box Search Delay
AnsweredI am developing an App and need to be able to find the files a users uploads.
I have noticed that it takes awhile after a file is uploaded before I can find it via search.
I will know the path to the file and the file name but not the Box id. Therefore, the only sure way I know to get the file
is to "walk the tree". This takes much longer than searching. Am I missing something? Is there another faster way to
achieve what I want? Is there a way that Box can just index the name right away and off load the fulltext indexing?

Hello ,
that's correct. Documents are indexed every 5 or 10 minutes. And actually, that reindexing works on both directions... when you add a document or you add metadata it takes 5 minutes to add that info to its index. When you remove metadata from a document, the same happens. That means that you receive false results... they do not have the metadata anymore but are returned on search.
Thanks

Well then I can't rely on the search at all then.
If a user uploads a file through my app and then wants to download it before the 5 - 10 min mark
the only recourse I have is to walk the folder tree looking for it. That is super slow...
Is there any other option available? Can I force an index of just the filename so I can search that?
The files they are mostly going to upload are images so I don't care about fulltext indexing.

Or at least have a better method to see Recently created folders / files.
We're starting to leverage Box integrations more (with Gmail and Salesforce) and I want to be able to create a folder in Salesforce then have it accessible from my Gmail > Box app search. If there was a Recently Created or Modified link , that would fix this use case.
But I notice when opening Box.com and trying to use the Recents link they provide, it falls into the same trap as search indexing. My recently created folder was not showing up in Recents for 5+ minutes.
