API access to Box Edit functions?

We would like to be able to offer the functionality of Box Edit in our own in-house application that connects with the Box service via the Box API.  In other words we want to implement the indicated functionality in the screen capture below in our own application:

How can we do that?

  Just wanted to share a quick update - we just launched the GA of the Open With element with support for Google Docs, Adobe Sign and Box Edit (aka editing via desktop applications). Thought you might find this interesting.
