Custom App vs Enterprise Integration

Hello,

we're developing a new application which has an integration with Box platform to upload/download files (app to app communication, not using user credentials(oauth)).

A couple of years ago we had to develop a similar integration with Box and we choose Enterprise Integration app type that time (I don't remember if Custom App was available that time), which implies a creation of private/public certs and keep more information (client_id, client_secret, etc...) to make the connection between the applications.

Now, we have Custom App option, which needs less information to make the connection work (client_id and client_secret) and is the recommended way of connection over Enterprise Integration and Partner Integration according to the documentation:

Is my understanding correct? Should I use Custom App to make app to app communication? Is there any advantages to keep using Enterprise Integrations app type?
