Box file collaborations and "can_view_path"

I have a use case where I don't want to share folders, but instead what to share individual files with users.  However, I'd love to take advantage of the "can_view_path" option that's available for folders in the API.

1. What's the rationale for not extending this option to files?  Is there any possibility to add this to the roadmap?

2. How do I find shared files in the Box app?  I don't actually see the shared file in my root folder anywhere.
