FYI, I was able to solve it by by logging out and then back in of the Box Drive before working on a PowerPoint files (suggested by box tech support)

Same here. Still having the issue. My Box and MacOS are: macOS 10.15.7 (19H2), Box 2.18.117 (same than Eric).
