Box and Adobe have forged a strong partnership over the past decade, enhancing productivity for businesses by integrating Box within Adobe’s document and creative tools within the Box platform. Now, the power of Adobe Express has come to Box!
Today, Box users must download image files and use external tools for editing, which disrupts workflows, increases content sprawl, and introduces risk. To solve this, Box has partnered with Adobe to bring Adobe Express to Box, giving users the ability to make essential edits to images, such as:
Cropping images
Removing backgrounds
Adding effects
And even generating and removing visual objects from text using Adobe Firefly AI
All changes will automatically and securely save content back to Box, all without the need to purchase separate Adobe licenses.
This feature is free, and will be enabled by default for all users. This can be disabled by Admins if desired. Use of this feature does not require the purchase of Adobe Express licenses. Use of generative AI features requires an Adobe Express account.
Box and Adobe are committed to creating a seamless and connected experience for our joint customers using macOS. In support of this collaborative experience we had enabled Custom mount location to support linked Adobe file in Box Drive. However, after the switch to the File Provider system architecture starting in macOS 11.6 this feature was broken for Box Drive content collaborators using macOS 11.6 or greater.
We heard from our customers and worked with Adobe and Apple to develop a solution. We’re excited to announce that a fix has been released for Adobe Illustrator in Illustrator(v28.5.66) that now enables linked file support for Adobe Illustrator files in Box Drive on macOS.
Starting with Adobe Illustrator (v.28.5.66 ), Illustrator now stores the relative paths of all placed objects along with the absolute (full) path. With this fix, Box Drive on macOS will now once again support viewing and editing linked Illustrator files from Adobe Illustrator (v.28.5.66 and above).
This does not require additional Admin setup.

We're excited to launch a new integration with Adobe Document Cloud to enable secure, streamlined digital document workflows. This new integration will enable users to get the full collaboration and editing power of Adobe Acrobat on your Box files so that they can complete PDF workflows from anywhere. As part of this new integration, Adobe Sign will be added to Box's Recommended Apps with support for app activities enabling a more efficient and transparent workflow.
