Not able to assign a task to an outside using Box Relay

I am creating a Relay workflow which includes assigning a task (in the workflow) to an email outside of the company. If I add the outside email to the folder as an invited editor, I am able to assign a task using the side task module. However, when I try to assign a task to the same user (outside email) using Relay, I am not able to locate the outside email address and not able to assign it a task in the workflow. 

Can this be achieved? if so, what steps would I need to do. We would like to assign tasks to the outside email through Box Relay Workflow and not through the manual task assignment side module.
