Accessing Files Overwritten in BOX folder via API

Hi, we have web application through which we post documents in BOX folder via API calls. The web application also has a feature to overwrite a document. Could you please confirm if a file name overwritten with the same file name will be available in version history? We were not able to see as such. For example, let's say a file was uploaded on April 15 with name "ABC.pdf" and it was overwritten with another "ABC.pdf" file on April 20 via API call. Will version history support such a case?
