Same file name uploads replace original

My clients use a naming system that often repeats. File "John Williams" will be uploaded, then some time later that same file name will repeat.  When this file is uploaded instead of John Williams (original) and John Williams V2, it appears that the first file, John Williams (original), is deleted and replaced with only John Williams V2. I want to keep both files.  How can I do this?
