Versioning consistency between copied documents

Is there a way to link versions of a document, so when changes are made to the document, the changes appear in every instance of that document? Fo example: 

File Q is located in Folders A, B, and C. 

Updating File Q in Folder A- can this update also be linked to File Q in Folders B and C? Or must File Q be updated in every folder in which it appears manually?
