Editor Role

I have always been able to add a role called "editor" that allowed a 3rd party to upload files to a Box folder that I created.  I just created a new folder and that person tried to upload files (well below my threshold) and he received a message that he needed to upgrade HIS account.  Is this an error or a change to Box?
