MP4 Video Files Not Allowing Preview
回答済みHi ... I've uploaded MP4 files that aren't too large (20-120MB) that I've set for viewing only, no download.
Instead of allowing preview, I'm getting message that "Preview is not available for this file. You can download this file to view it, or contact Box User Services for help."
I'm not sure why this isn't working for me?

Video Preview on Box is only available for certain account types. If you have a free personal account, video preview will not work for you. The limitation is listed in this article: https://community.box.com/t5/Managing-Your-Content/What-file-types-are-supported-by-Box-s-Content-Preview/ta-p/327

We have a business account and use the latest version of the chrome browser 55.0.2883.87
We can no longer preview any video formats with the exception of .swf files using Chrome.
We get a message that says your browser does not support previewing or "We're sorry, the preview didn't load. This file type may not be supported".
The video preview feature does still work for us for all video formats if we use IE version 11.
Box engineering is currently investigating the issue with Chrome.

Hi , , Everyone,
Thank you for posting and contributing to Box's Community Forum!
It is currently expected that video preview is only availble to Bisness level Box account and above. Please see reference to this here. I've pasted the information from the linked article below:
Notes:
-
Video Preview is only available to Business level Box accounts and above. Free or personal users can preview video files owned by these accounts.
-
You can preview videos up to 3.5 hours in length
-
AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) is not supported in preview.
If you are experiencing issues with preview despite having a business account, please open a ticket with our support team here so that we can investigate your issue! In your ticket please include the following:
- Confirm if you have tested out more than one browser (i.e. Chrome, Firefox)
- Confirm your browsers are fully updated
- Verify who owns the file. Is it owned by someone who is in a Business or above Box account?
- Provide the folder owner's email address
- Provide a screenshot of the error message your see
- Provide a shared link of the file in question
Apologies for the inconveniences you have experienced due to this!
Best,
James - Box Support

James,
I understand but I'm curious as to why it is only available for Business accounts. I would expect it to at the very least be available to the paid individual accounts as well. It is very frustrating for me when I need to share videos to the organization I am involved with. It is not necessary for me to get a business account for the work that I do. Thank you.

Just some info for those that don't have this feature or don't have it working ... even when it does work it needs major improvement.
Specifically it's slow with anything but short videos. We were hoping to use it as a way to share webinar / online meeting recordings and make them easily playable online. We are now likely abandoning this because preview is slow enough to cause most people to just abandon using it. It's faster to just download.
This is for videos that are 30-90 minutes long, but not particularly heavy files... (under 100mb). If you just play and don't touch it, it's ok, but try to jump ahead to the middle or back to the beginning and you'll be stuck waiting to the point of frustration.

I used to have no problems previewing .mp4s in the Box app for iphone. For some reason, that changed about two version upgrades ago. Now, when I press play, the video stalls on a spinning circle overlay. Then Says it can't (I forget the exact message).
I've used box for years-did something change?
(Note: I do not have Box installed on a PC. Only ios. -
and others,
According to https://community.box.com/t5/How-to-Guides-for-Managing/Preview/ta-p/19153#hdipfb_wfts MP4s are a supported file type. If you can't get them to preview you should each submit a support ticket.

I have been using box.net since they started and no one knew who they were. Pre cloud concept. I told everyone about them. They were great. Now they suck. They changed their graphics and environment which now looks bleak and confusing and non visual. I DO remember being able to view videos in the free or low paying or whatever account. Hard to remember as they have changed their menu so much, now mentioning BANDWIDTH!...??? And I SWEAR I have been missing photos over the years but since the environment upgrade, it's confusing so there's no way to know for sure and it's too upsetting to even fathom. I don't understand how you can take something that works and is visually appealing and easy to work with and destroy it. But someone has. WHAT ON EARTH IS THE POINT of uploading videos and then trying to share them if you cannot see what the video is before you download it.... because you have to now in order to VIEW IT?! The irony doesn't align with the fact that they have now become one of MANY cloud storage companies in a competitive marketplace where they were initially the only one and the trailblazers before cloud storage had a name. FIXI IT!

Early this morning I signed up with Box precisely because I wanted to share photos and videos of the Grandkids with the rest of the doting family. Spent all morning uploading -having spent all weekend organising the files. More fool me for not checking first and just assuming.....
Goodbye Box. Let me know when you feel like offering paying customers what others offer free users as a basic level of service.

I am a long time paying customer of Box. I have recommended it to many pro audio/video user. Now no one can preview my m4v or .mov files that are 3 minutes long. What is up with this....I really don't want to jump over to another site, but will have to if not resolved promptly...Any advice?
