What EXACTLY does making an account a "Developer" account change about the account?

    Hello Eiren,

Generally speaking, we charge for platform by number of API calls, so the amount of calls included by plan:

    • Business and Business Plus: 50k
    • Enterprise: and Enterprise Plus: 100k

Other differences are going to be feature set, so for example, our business tariff does not allow for custom terms of service or custom metadata templates. Therefore, you would not be able to interact with these API features.

If you haven't already, you'll need to connect with a member of our sales team. They're going to be the best resource to walk you through the differences in our plans and help find which will best meet your needs.

    Best,

    Kourtney, Box Developer Advocate

Thank you for your reply, Kourtney. But it didn't answer the question I was asking.

As for talking to Sales, that hasn't gone anywhere. We already talked to Sales (Colton Arman) and he asked us to read developer guides here: https://developer.box.com/guides

This is mistakenly marked "Answered" and not getting replies, so I re-posted it here in hopes of getting the requested information about Box.com:

I need some time to follow up internally. I will report back as soon as I can.

Thank you so much, Kourtney. We really need this (and future) info so we can determine which license type is right for us as Box.com developers.

Happy to help! I apologize it's been so difficult to get the answers you're looking for, but we'll get this sorted. While I make a connection with the correct Boxer for you, here's a feature matrix for you to review! I think it'll help you get a better idea of some of the plan differences.

I do want to note, that when rereading your original message I realized I may be able to address question. "Developer Account" sounds misleading.  All this means is that a user activated the developer console for their account the first time they created an app. It doesn't change anything else about the user or account. Moving forward, the user will see the "developer console" tab on their navigation menu. This is the case regardless of the account type you have!

    Thank you very much, Kourtney.

Doesn't having the "Developer Account" aspect activated on a free Box.com account also give that account an Enterprise ID? If yes, okay. If yes, what else does it do? Thanks!

All Business and above tariffs have an enterprise ID regardless of using the developer console or not.

Thank you, Kourtney. Do the following three account types have enterprise IDs by default?

If not, does the Developer Account status/add-on add an enterprise to each of those types? They are "Individual (Free)", "Personal Pro", and "Business Starter".

To purchase something long-term, I have to provide this kind of information in our purchase request. I can't just pick an account type and claim it's the best one for us. I have to explain why we need that exact one — not one above it, not one below it. :)

Business starter would receive an enterprise ID, but the other two would not.
