Box syncing all files even though not selected to sync

I have just loaded a new laptop with Box Drive and it has downloaded all of my folders and files held in the cloud even if not set to sync. This defeats the whole idea of having offline cloud storage and very frustrating as my cloud storage is larger than the availble space on my laptop! Any clues how to sort?

  Welcome to the Box Community!

  As you may have noticed, Box Drive mirrors all of your files and folders in Box webapp in your desktop in a form of cache data. Box Drive's cache size limit is based on your free disk space (50% of available space) and has a maximum limit of 25 GB. If you would like to determine the actual local space that Box Drive takes up, you can examine the properties of Box's cache folder:

  • Windows: \C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Box\Box\cache
  • OS X: /Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Box/Box/cache
