Global permission changes

Hi Everyone -- I need to know whether Box API tools can be used to create a "global" permissions feature. Here is the background: When my group is developing a product, the corresponding Box folder has an owner, and everyone else with whom the folder is shared has Editor access. A typical project might have two hundred Editors. When the product goes into production, we want to change all of the Editors to Viewer/Downloaders to better secure the data within the folder. Right now, this permission change can only be done one person at a time, which is not a problem for a dozen Editors, but is a huge time-sink for many dozens of Editors. Can we implement this feature with the Box API tools? Many thanks for your help.
