With the Box app for Zoom, you can directly access Box directly from within the Zoom Desktop client, enabling you to browse, preview, and share Box files from Zoom -- whether or not you are in an active meeting. And when you are in meetings, you can select a Box file to present to all attendees with just one click. As always, Box's enterprise-grade security, compliance, and governance is applied to Box content that's accessed in Zoom, so you have peace of mind that your sensitive information remains safe.
Accessing your Box content in the Zoom Desktop Client
- Click the Apps tab in Zoom.
- Click My Apps to view apps you have already installed.
- Find the App you would like to use and click Open next to the App. The Box app for Zoom will open within the Zoom window.
- If you have multiple open apps, click the V next to the open App at the top of the window to select the Box app for Zoom.
Once the Box app is opened, you can now access, search for, and navigate through your Box content. From here, you also have the additional following options:
- Start Meeting: Start an instant meeting and invite others to begin collaborating. Any currently open apps are automatically opened in the meeting, and the Invite window appears to choose other contacts to join the meeting and collaborate.
- Send App: Invite others to use the Box app and collaborate with you outside of a meeting. These recipients will be notified through a chat message. Recipients of the request must also install and authorize the Box app.

Upload File(s) to Box:
- In the Box app for Zoom, navigate to the Box folder destination where you would like to upload the file.
- Click + (Add)
- Select Upload from the dropdown.
- Go to your device and drag and drop the file you want to upload into the Box App. (You can also click Browse your device).
- Click Upload. The system then uploads the file(s).
- To upload additional files, click Select more files.
- Click Close to exit from the upload screen back to your Box folder view.
Accessing your Box content in a Zoom Meeting
- Start or join a meeting in Zoom.
- Click Apps in the Zoom meeting controls.
- Click My Apps to view apps you have already installed.
- Click on the Box app for Zoom.
- If you have multiple open apps, click the V next to open App at the top of the panel and select the Box app for Zoom.
Once the Box App is opened, you have the additional following options:
- Share App: Begin sharing your view of the Box app with meeting participants.

Send: Invite other participants to install the Box app for Zoom. You can choose Send to all or Select participants... Participants will be notified of the invitation to use the Box app for Zoom with a banner and chat message, then must also install and authorize the Zoom App.
- Note: If Users are not on the required desktop client version, the app message in chat will appear as “[Upgrade to the latest version to see this message]”.
- Expand: Increases the side of the Box app for Zoom panel to facilitate a larger view. Clicking Collapse reverts the size back to its original size.

Save Recordings to Box: Toggle the switch at the bottom to save a copy of your meeting recording directly to Box. In your Box account, access your recordings and share Zoom audio, video, or transcripts from the “My Zoom Recordings” folder.
- For current users, you will need to re-authorize the Box for Zoom app to enable meeting recording.
- Visit the app page and then click Visit Site to Update and grant permission access to enable this feature.
- For current users, you will need to re-authorize the Box for Zoom app to enable meeting recording.
Important: Currently, saving recordings to Box is not supported for Enterprise accounts with a closed folder structure.
Note: Access to Zoom Apps in meetings is primarily restricted by the presence of the meeting host, or specifically, the user that the meeting belongs to, rather than whichever participant currently has the host role. The host of the meeting may immediately suspend all use of Zoom Apps, at any time, through the in-meeting security controls.
Uninstalling the Box App for Zoom
- Login to your Zoom Account and navigate to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Click Manage > Installed Apps or search for the Box App for Zoom.
- Click the Box App for Zoom icon.
- Click Uninstall.
