Note: This is an important security update that may affect users' or integrations' ability to access Box.
Box regularly upgrades its infrastructure to meet the highest standards. Recently, we enabled DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) on all Box domains. DNSSEC is a feature of the Domain Name System (DNS) that authenticates responses to domain name lookups. The internet relies heavily on the Domain Name System (DNS) protocol. DNS acts like a phone book for the entire internet, translating domain names into IP addresses so that web browsers can load websites you need. Refer to ‘What is DNS?’ by Cloudflare to read more about how DNS works.
The following Box domains include this update:
- box.com
- boxcdn.net
- boxcloud.com
- box.net
We anticipate that this update will have minimal impact on the majority of Box users. However, in rare instances, some users or integrations may experience difficulties accessing Box. To confirm your ability to connect to a domain with DNSSEC enabled, please click on the following link and ensure that the test page loads successfully: https://www.box-test.com/. If you run into issues viewing the test page, please clear your browser cache.
Please refer to Troubleshooting DNSSEC Validation page for detailed troubleshooting instructions.
