Sharing Files using "Share with Slack"

The Share with Slack from Box Web option enables you to send a Box content link through Slack starting from the Box interface. You can find the Share with Slack option in Box Web's files context menu and in the file preview sidebar.

To enable the Share with Slack option in Box Web as an admin:

1. Open the Box Admin Console and go to Integrations > Box Integrations & Clients > Individual Integration Controls > Box for Slack > Configure.
2. Make sure the app is in the Available or Added by default status and toggle the Share with Slack slider to On.

As a user, in case you cannot see the Slack icon in the Box file preview sidebar nor the Integrations file context menu, make sure you have Box for Slack in Added status in the Box Integrations.

Using Share with Slack

1. To share a file from within Box, click the file to preview it. In the column that lists integrations, click the Slack icon. Then click OK.
   • You can also do this from your file list. Next to the file you want to share, click the More options button to open the context menu. Select Integrations and then click Share with Slack. Click Okay to proceed and share the Box file with Slack.

2. A new browser tab can temporarily open and redirect you to your desktop or web Slack app. If you have not used the Box for Slack integration before, you will be prompted to allow it to access both your Slack and Box accounts.
3. In Slack, in the Box app's Messages tab you will se a preview of a message with the Box file link. Click the Share with... button and select the target channel, conversation or member.
4. Click the Confirm button. The conversations you have selected will be listed below the message. Click a channel name to be navigated to the message.

Additional options

• You can select the permissions adjustment method. The integration attempts to apply in in the target conversations (subject to limitations related to other settings).
• You can adit the message before posting it in the target conversations - you can add your favorite Slack emojis and @mentions. Save the message and the continue to Share with... option.
• You can select more than one target channel, conversation or member to share the message with.
