Box Shield’s malware detection capabilities help IT and security teams identify potentially malicious content and stop its spread across devices, while still allowing users to preview the file and work in online editors.
We're introducing deep learning-based malware detection in Box Shield (malware deep scan), so enterprises can better discover and contain the spread of malware before it becomes a data breach or causes a significant loss of business continuity. Improvements that we’re making employ both hash-based scanning from external threat intelligence databases, alongside new deep learning technology which looks inside the file to identify malicious traits in near real-time. You will benefit from the ability to detect more sophisticated malware.
We're also expanding coverage to include active content where scanning will be triggered for historical files on the next upload, download, preview, share, copy or move actions. Malware deep scan will also include content shared by external parties thereby reducing third-party risk. Enhanced, context rich alerts will allow security teams to quickly prioritize and research incidents. Lastly, we will allow admins to mark the threat verdict for low risk content as safe minimizing disruption of business workflows.
These new threat detection capabilities will be generally available to all Box Shield customers.
