The Box AI Data Extraction for Salesforce integration helps teams work faster and more accurately by automating data capture from Box documents. The integration removes manual data entry, keeps Salesforce records up to date, and ensures information stays consistent across systems as your records volume grows.
Key capabilities
The Box AI Data Extraction for Salesforce integration supports all standard and custom Salesforce objects, extracting all updateable fields from Box-stored content including text, numbers, and dates. You can review, edit, and validate extracted values before saving to ensure data entry accuracy and control.
Box Extract capabilities are available in Salesforce Lighting Pages, Record Pages, Lightning Utility bar and flows, and can be configured by your Salesforce admins.

- Automated data extraction: Instantly capture structured data and metadata from Box documents.
- Flexible extraction modes
- Create New Record: Create new Salesforce records from extracted data.
- Update Existing Record: Update existing records with new document information.
- Validate: Compare extracted data with existing Salesforce values.
- Review and validation: Accept, reject, or edit extracted fields inline before saving.
- Support for complex data structures: Handle documents with parent-child relationships; for example, handle invoices with line items.
Extracting data in Salesforce with Box AI Data Extraction
To extract data in Salesforce:
- Open Box Extract.
- Click Add Context.
- Browse your Box files, folders, or recent items to select the content from which you want to extract data.
- Click Extract Mode and select one of the following:
- Create new record
- Update existing record
- Validate
- Select the Salesforce Object type.
- Select the record type you want to create or update. Tip: You can also use Box AI to get suggestions for the file’s object type and related data.
- Click Extract Records. Box AI extracts structured data from the selected document
- Next to the extracted field value, toggle Accept on or off to include or exclude extracted values.
- Modify extracted field values directly as needed.
- Click Save.
The integration automatically creates or updates the Salesforce records based on the selected extract mode.
