Box Shield brings intelligent data classification to the Content Cloud, securing content at scale. Shield automatically scans files against personally identifiable information (PII) and custom terms and phrases, classifies them based on admin-defined policies, and enforces classification-based security controls - reducing the risk of data leakage and enabling secure remote work from anywhere, anytime, and any device.
We’re announcing the introduction of an additional security control where Box Shield Admins can specify that watermarking is automatically applied to classified files. The watermarking serves as an indicator to end users that they should treat the classified content with more care, helping reduce unauthorized sharing.
Files bearing the specified classification label in the Smart Access policy will automatically have a watermark applied with the current viewer’s user name and time of access across the file’s contents.
