The Box Quick Links widget is a Lightning Web Component (LWC) that enables you to generate and copy Box shared links directly within Salesforce. This allows you to quickly access and share Box content associated with a Salesforce record without leaving Salesforce.
You can use these links directly in Salesforce workflows such as emails, tasks, and record collaboration.
Use Box Quick Links widget
You can add the Box Quick Links widget to Salesforce Record Pages using the Lightning App Builder. Once added to a record page, you can use the widget to generate shared links for Box content associated with that record.
- Note: Shared link access is controlled by Box permissions and shared link settings. You must have access to the Box content to generate shared links.
With the Box Quick Links widget, you can generate shared links for:
- File Request link for uploading files (generates a Box File Request link that allows users to upload files directly to Box)
- The record’s associated Box folder (generates a shared link for the entire folder)
- Note: This option requires a Box folder to already exist for the record. If no folder exists, you must create one before generating a shared link.
- Specific files in Box (select one or more files from Box and generate shared links for those files)
Note: If a shared link already exists for a folder or file, clicking Generate does not create a new link. Instead, the existing shared link is retrieved and displayed so you can quickly access it.
To use the Generate a File Request link for uploading files option, you must configure a File Request template in the Box Quick Links widget settings by providing the Template File Request ID or URL.
- To obtain this, in Box navigate to the target folder, click More Options, select File Request, and copy the File Request link.
- Once configured, the widget uses this URL as a template to generate File Request links for uploading files directly to Box.
After generating a shared link, you can use it directly within Salesforce workflows. For example, you can:
- Paste links into the Salesforce email composer when communicating with customers
- Share documents while working on Opportunities
- Post links in Chatter for internal collaboration
- Add links to Tasks, Notes, or Activity records
- Send File Request links for uploading the files to customers or partners to collect documents directly into Box
