Pending Invites Receive Error Message

A client is using their Box account to send us files and made me an co-owner so that I could add the members of our team. Both members have Box accounts already for prior clients. Their invites are listed as pending. When they click the invites however they only receive the message below and are unable to access the files. Sending public links or links to only invitees has not worked either. Can you help me figure out what I am doing wrong? The team does not want to bother the client with this which is why they requested I be made a co-owner but I am not very familiar with Box.

Pending invitations are requests for collaboration, or other actions, that you have not yet accepted or rejected. Pending invitations can come from collaborators, as well as from enterprises requiring you to perform special actions before you can access content.

Can you also double check if you invited the correct email address for those members and make sure there are no typos?
