Mounted volume property is wrong
AnsweredHello,
new user here. I installed Box Drive and changed the CustomBoxLocation to my D drive which has 1TB of free space. I started syncing a folder to my local folder for offline working and quickly got an Insufficient Disk Space error.
I right-clicked on the Box drive and went into Properties. Then looked inside the Mounted Volume Properties and it's telling me that the Capacity of the drive is 458GB, which so happens to match my C drive.
So, although the Box folder can be found under D:\Box, it looks like the data is being saved somewhere on my C drive.
Is there another Registry Key I need to add for the data to be saved under D?
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!
There is an option for users to change the location of Box Drive folder, and mount it to another location, however it will still continue to use your C drive space. So your observation is correct, you are only moving the location of the Box Drive mount point. The cache and app data locations remain unchanged as mentioned in this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043697454-Configuring-the-Default-Box-Drive-Folder-Location
The article I shared above tackles resolving issues around file-to-file linking via absolute paths as seen in many popular apps such as Excel, Word, InDesign, and so on. But if your goal is to move the where Box Drive is taking up spaces, where cache and app data are stored, I'm afraid this is currently not possible. This idea has been shared to our Product team and currently under consideration in Box Pulse - our product feedback page for users: https://pulse.box.com/forums/909778-help-shape-the-future-of-box/suggestions/37070209-box-drive-change-cache-location
If this is something that you would like to be implemented you may add your vote and comment your use case on the thread. Our product managers review these requests and take them into consideration for future product development. All the Best,
