Victim of BOX scam
AnsweredI have become a victim of Box's secret policy that they won't send any reminder emails and charge $1260 on my credit card for some service that I never wanted to subscribe.
Box ruthlessly denies any refund even though I haven't used any of their services for a single day. I created the account hoping to download some large files from a public repository, only to become a victim of their secret policy. Upon contacting customer care for a refund, I get nothing but disappointment. Here is what they told me:

Based on records, the account was subscribed to an Enterprise plan with 14-day trial and since we did not receive any cancellation request before your trial ended, your account automatically converted to a paid subscription. You were not immediately charged due to some internal changes, which delayed the processing of your Box payment. The payment were successfully processed by our system on 12/09/2022. Unfortunately, I am unable to accommodate your refund request as your account is in a 12 month term which commenced on 12/05/2023. Box does not grant mid-term concessions; this includes any request to downgrade, decrease licenses or even cancel as outlined in our Terms of Service upon registration.
22. SUBSCRIPTION PERIOD
An annual subscription plan (“Annual Subscription Plan”). The subscription period for the Annual Subscription Plan will be for one year and will automatically renew (without the need to go through the Services-interface “check-out” or execute a renewal Order Form) for additional periods equal to one (1) year each year on the anniversary unless you cancel at least three (3) business days prior to your renewal date. You will be billed annually on or about the same day each year until such time that you cancel. Note that under the Annual Subscription Plan you will not be permitted to cancel, reduce the number of seats, or downgrade the Box Service you have selected until the anniversary date. Be aware that you are committing to a one-year plan; if you are not certain, we recommend choosing the Monthly Subscription Plan.
While I understand this is not the outcome you had hoped, I have processed your request effective the date it is eligible to downgrade. On 12/05/2023, your account will be downgraded to Free Individual and no further charges will incur unless you decide to upgrade as a paid subscription in the future.
