Can't copy/paste within particular folder
AnsweredHello,
I've recently encountered an issue where I can't copy or move any files or folders within a particular folder which is owned by a client of mine. I've worked with this client for years and I've always been able to copy and paste files and folders within their folder up until a couple of days ago, and they insist that my permission level has not been changed.
I used to simply single-click a folder and press cmd+c (I'm on a mac) to copy it, and then go to another folder and press cmd+v to paste it. However it seems like there has been an update recently to where a folder can no longer be selected because clicking on it opens it and shows the contents (the same way double-clicking used to do).
However I believe I should still be able to click the "..." menu to the right of the folder and select "move or copy", and then navigate to where I want to copy it to, but this doesn't work either within this particular folder. Note that this *does* work for any folders or files I have access to in box outside of the one folder that's owned by this particular client. I have access to the "move or copy" option both within folders I own as well as within a folder that's owned by a different client of mine. Within the folder in question it's not like I can click the option and it gives me an error or something, but rather that I can't see the "move or copy" option available at all when I click the "..." menu.
I highly suspect that this is a permission issue specific to my one client since the issue doesn't happen outside of their folder, but they're insisting that it's an issue with my account and that I should contact box support before they'll look into it further.
Does anyone know why this option might have disappeared for me assuming that my client is correct and that they did not change my permission level?
And does anyone know why you can no longer select a folder and simply copy/paste it with keyboard shortcuts?
For clarity I'm talking about using box.com in a web browser; not the desktop app. The whole reason I sometimes need to copy and paste folders in a browser is because I frequently need to copy and paste large folders and doing so using the desktop app triggers a re-upload which can take a while, but doing this in a browser happens much more quickly (assuming I'm copy/pasting within the same root folder which I am).
Any ideas?

Never mind the whole thing. I figured out that I can still select a folder by using the checkbox next to it, and if I do this then my keyboard shortcuts for copy/paste do still work. What a silly update. Why not just stick with the universal standard of single-clicking a folder to select it and double-clicking a folder to open it? Now single-clicking opens it and you have to click the checkbox to select it? Literally no operating system or other file sharing service works like this.
Nonetheless, it's not a big deal to click the checkbox now that I figured it out. I just wasted a bunch of time on this silly issue for no reason. Thanks Microsoft!

Hi Paavo,
Welcome to the Box Community! I'm happy to help.
I see that this was already resolved. I understand that this Microsoft update is purportedly causing issues for a handful of Box users.
