Not seeing files in Box Drive even though files exist (and show up when using search function)

I have recently started trying to move my data files onto Box Drive to free up space on my computer (excel files, prism files, word, powerpoint, and .FCS files for Flow Jo analysis, flow jo files etc). However, after doing this, I no longer see the files in their folders. When I do a search of the file on Box the file shows up, but it doesn't when I just open Box Drive and the files contained on there.

Considering I am moving a number of files and trying to assess if I can adequately access my data for analysis (I'm a scientist that has I number of different types of files I need access to that span over years of time), its disconcerting that some files don't show up readily.

Is there a default setting I have clicked that might be limiting my viewing access? I am a paid member through the University of Minnesota. My computer space is about to be full, so I want to remove some downloaded files in my download folder but am hesitant because it's not clear whether the files are now on the Box Drive or not.
